The First Thobe Is Just the Beginning

Why creating your first Palestinian Thobe is more than just a craft—it's a turning point.

A Stitch in Time, A Lifetime of Meaning

I still remember the moment I finished my first Thobe.

It wasn’t just about the embroidery or the final seams. It was a full-body realization—I did this. With my hands, my story, and the guidance of tradition that stretched generations before me.

This week, one of my students crossed that very threshold. She sent me a message that made my entire day (month, and year!):

These are the moments that make every challenge of building a business worth it. This isn’t just a course—it’s a journey. One that starts with a stitch and ends with someone feeling more connected, more confident, and more whole.

Why Making a Thobe Is a Personal Revolution

The first Thobe isn’t just a garment. It’s a declaration.

A declaration that your story matters. That the knowledge our ancestors carried isn’t lost. That we are still here, still stitching, still resisting.

And the most powerful part? You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t need to be fast. You just need to begin.

This is what I’ve seen time and time again in the Thobe Makers Collective—women and femmes of all ages who’ve spent years dreaming about making their Thobe, finally taking that first step. And when they do? Everything shifts.

The Confidence You’re Looking For? It’s Found Along the Way

I’ve built this course to be gentle and flexible—because life is not linear and neither is making a Thobe. Some people sprint. Others crawl. But what matters most is showing up.

When you create something this personal, it sticks with you. It reshapes how you carry yourself. You start seeing your story as art, as heritage, as something you belong to and can carry forward.

So to my student—thank you for trusting me. Your Thobe is stunning, and your words will stay with me for a long time.

And to anyone out there dreaming of their first Thobe but worried they’re not ready, not skilled enough, not “crafty”—I see you. And I want to gently remind you:

You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”

The first stitch is the transformation.
